The Challenges of Ethics in Sports

Parr Center for Ethics & Department of Athletics Public Discussion

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

September 20, 2006

Ethics in sports is a topic with universal appeal. Never has this been truer than today when the media spotlight is turned on ethics in sports on a daily basis. Sports are designed to develop self respect and respect for others through empathy, integrity and sportsmanship. It is in competition as a mutual challenge to achieve excellence where these are learned and exemplified.

The Parr Center for Ethics, UNC Department of Athletics, UNC Sport Clubs, Department of Exercise and Sport Science, Department of Philosophy and the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs will sponsor a two-hour Public Discussion on the ethics of competition in sports.

Location: Fetzer Gym 109, 7:30 p.m.
