Ethics in the Workplace
April 19, 2011 @ 8:30 am - 12:00 pm
An introduction to ethical decision-making for UNC-CH staff employees.
What should you do if you suspect a co-worker of lying on their time sheet? How should you navigate the chain of command and when should you go over your boss’s head? Is it ever permissible to date a co-worker? Are employees to blame for the actions of their company?
An introduction to ethical decision making, the goal of this course is to help participants learn how to identify ethical issues, think about them productively, and arrive at ethically sound decisions. To meet those objectives, participants will learn some introductory ethical theory that will provide a framework for exploring ethical questions. Then, using a number of real cases, including participants’ own experiences, we will apply this framework to the situations in hopes of identifying and resolving the relevant ethical conflicts. Participants will leave the course prepared to share their skills in ethical decision making with their colleagues.
OPEN TO UNC-CH STAFF MEMBERS
