Thull Wins APPLES Teaching Excellence Award

Parr Center Graduate Assistant Delaney Thull is a 2022-2023 recipient of the Teaching Excellence Award from Carolina Center for Public Service’s APPLES Service-Learning Initiative for her work on the Philosophy Department’s innovative PHIL 292 course, Democratic Deliberation Across the Rural-Urban Divide. This course underwrites the award-winning NHSEBBridge access initiative of the Center’s National High School Ethics Bowl program. Delaney’s contributions to service learning and public partnerships at UNC will be recognized in a formal gala for the APPLES Initiative at the North Carolina Botanical Gardens on March 30. Delaney and NHSEB Director Alex Richardson will be in attendance to celebrate a successful implementation of NHSEBBridge in 2022-2023.

 

Established in 2004, the Teaching Excellence Award honors a faculty member who integrates service experiences into the academic curriculum while inspiring students to make significant contributions in the community and the classroom. Recipients of the Teaching Excellence Award have been involved with the APPLES Service-Learning program, demonstrated a sustained commitment to service-learning, and are dedicated to positive community impact through service.
