Undergraduate Programs
Become a Parr Heel! Undergraduate affiliates of the Parr Center take part in a stimulating program of ethics activities alongside a great bunch of other students. There are two complementary programs for undergraduates: Ethics Ambassadors, for those who want to check out the Parr Center’s offerings, and the more intensive Ethics Scholar Program, which can earn you an official transcript designation after two years. Scholars take part in exciting student-led projects in ethics–see the Student Projects tab for examples! Start as an Ethics Ambassador and move up to the Scholar program!
FAQs
Ethics Ambassadors are typically students in their first or second year at UNC who are curious to learn more about ethics and to get involved with the Parr Center. They attend lectures, volunteer with the National High School Ethics Bowl, and take part in social events. Ambassadors can expect to devote about 35 hours per year to the program.
Ethics Scholars are students who have committed to working toward the Ethics Scholar transcript designation over two years. In addition to the activities of the Ambassadors, Ethics Scholars will also work on a student-led team project, take two ethics courses and a skills training, present their work at the End of Year Ceremony. Scholars can expect to spend about 85 hours per year, or 170 hours over two years, on the requirements for the program.
