Public Lecture: Cardinal Mahony on Immigration Reform
February 2, 2011 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
For Goodness Sake: Why America Needs Immigration Reform
Human dignity and equality are principles deeply held by all Americans. And if laws reflect our principles, then something is terribly wrong with our laws on immigration. Because of our broken immigration system, millions of individuals and families are regularly exploited, demeaned and dehumanized. Enacting comprehensive immigration reform that is both humane and fair is not only good, it is a moral imperative for our country. Who are the immigrants among us? And, what needs to be done to bring about substantive change in the way our nation deals with immigration in the 21st century?
