Richardson Elected to APPE Board of Directors

Our own Director of the National High School Ethics Bowl, Dr. Alex Richardson, has been elected to a four-year term on the Board of Directors of the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (APPE). Alex’s term will begin July 1 of this year and run until 2026.

Established in 1991, the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (APPE) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) membership organization dedicated to advancing scholarship, education, and practice in practical and professional ethics. APPE fosters moral reasoning skill development, works to promote ethical conduct in all sectors of our daily lives, nurtures the next generation of ethical leaders, and seeks to advance civil public discourse on diverse ethical issues. As host of the Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl (upon which the National High School Ethics Bowl was initially modeled), APPE remains a close institutional partner of the Parr Center’s. Alex has served on the APPE Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl (IEB) Steering Committee since 2020.

On the occasion of his election to the APPE Board of Directors, Alex said:

This is an exciting development for an exciting partnership. I am grateful to the APPE membership for their votes of confidence, and I very much look forward to working more closely with the Board to pursue our organizations’ shared mission of fostering ethics education and nourishing key civic virtues across the lifespan.
