Parr Center Team Awarded Templeton Grant

Georgia State University and the John F. Templeton Foundation have awarded the Parr Center a multi-year research grant!

The project is led by Dr. Michael Prinzing, Parr Center Consulting Research Scientist and UNC Philosophy PhD, and Dr. Michael Vazquez, Parr Center Outreach Director and Teaching Assistant Professor of Philosophy. It investigates the role of extracurricular programs in cultivating intellectual humility (IH) in adolescents, particularly in relation to ethical and political questions. Specifically, the proposed project aims to examine whether participation in the National High School Ethics Bowl (NHSEB) fosters IH in students, and whether a novel pedagogical program called “Ethical Conversations” can replicate the benefits of NHSEB for students not involved in the program.
