Parr Center Presents: Christian Miller (Wake Forest)
September 13, 2023, 5:30PM*

To kick off our Parr Center Presents series this Fall, we’ll host Professor Christian Miller for a talk on The Neglected Virtue of Honesty. Miller is the A.C. Reid Professor of Philosophy at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC, and Director of The Honesty Project, funded by the John Templeton Foundation. Miller is the author of over 100 academic papers as well as five books on moral character, character formation, and other related topics.

EAT: Eric Muller (UNC Law)

In October, we’ll gather for Ethics Around the Table, featuring UNC Law’s Professor Eric Muller, in conversation with the Philosophy Department’s own Professor Matt Kotzen about his new book, Lawyer, Jailer, Ally, Foe: Complicity and Conscience in America’s World War II Concentration Camps. Muller is Dan K. Moore Distinguished Professor of Law in Jurisprudence and Ethics at UNC Law School.

Parr Center Presents: Sigal Ben-Porath (University of Pennsylvania)
October 24, 2023, 5:30PM*

Finally, we’ll round out the Fall 2023 semester with a timely discussion of the so-called “Cancel Wars” with Professor Sigal-Ben Porath of the University of Pennsylvania. Ben-Porath is Professor in the Literacy, Culture, and International Education Division of Penn’s Graduate School of Education. Her work concerns schools and universities as democratic institutions.
